13TH TITLE FOR MAGALI DECLUNDER IN MELK

Magali Declunder (France) gets her 13th gold medal in her career at the European Championship Free Game Ladies in Melk (Austria), organized by the Austrian Billiard Federation. She totally scored 995 points in 13 innings (general average 76,53, a new record for this competition) losing only the last match against the silver medalist Karolien Matthys (Belgium) who also lost only one match against the bronze medalist. Both finished with 12 match points, but the Frenchwoman's much higher average guaranteed her the first place. The bronze medal was awarded to Susanne Stengel-Ponsing (Germany) with 10 match points, Susanne lost only two matches against Declunder and against the fourth ranked Christel Willemse (Netherlands). The provisional ranking at the end of the second daily session was confirmed in the final ranking, nonetheless in today's last session we witnessed some decisive and exciting high level performances. The three sportswomen on the podium were the only ones to achieve high runs of 150 points, Magali did it 4 times out of 7 matches, while Karolien and Susanne did it once each.
