COUNTDOWN FOR CEB MAJOR EVENT

COUNTDOWN FOR CEB MAJOR EVENT
03/28/2023

On 08th of April, the European Billiards Championships will open in Antalya/Turkey and the first shot will be taken.

The major event combines all popular carom games in one championship and has been held every two years since 2013 with the exception of the Corona pandemic.
A total of more than 400 athletes from 18 nations take part and compete for the coveted European Championship titles.

Most recently, the city of Brandenburg/Germany hosted the continental competitions in the oldest billiards discipline four times in a row. Now, the best European billiards athletes are drawn to the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, in the huge salon of the Maritime Pine Beach Belek Hotel.

15 new European Titles are at stake in Antalya along 9 full days of competition. Ceremonies and awards will be sober in respect of the victims of the recent earthquake that hit Turkey.

The impressive number of title holders is made up of the various billiard disciplines 1-Cushion, 3-Cushion, Cadre, 5-Pins and Artistique. CEB has a special eye for promoting billiards for youth and women. Hence, brand new never held before Championships have been added to the programme: Women's 5-Pins Individual and Women's 3-Cushion National Teams. A new national team competition has also been added in the spectacular Artistique discipline. It will be interesting to see which sportswomen and which teams will be the first to sign the new winners' list.

The integration of the European Championship 3-Cushion U25 is also very important to the organisers: "They are the future of our sport. We want them to be close to their idols," said Diane Wild, President of CEB, explaining the intention of this competition.

In purely organisational terms, the European Championships are once again a logistical masterpiece thanks to all the involved parties, partners and sponsors. The Turkish Billiards Federation has provided a big effort in terms of local set up and arrangements. A total of 28 billiard tables from ZEKI have to be professionally set up and, of course, dismantled after the end of the tournament. In addition, a total of 71 CEB referees from nine nations will be in charge of the countless games in the various disciplines. The playing materials are provided by Simonis and Aramith.

The entire event can be followed from 8 April onwards on the paid livestream at tv.kozoom.com. All results and schedules are available on the CEB website. Daily press releases, photos and further information on the event can be found on the official media page.
