Press Release | 10 March 2026 (web version)
ARNIM KAHOFER AND BARIS CIN WIN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD

This Tuesday, two more medal decisions were on the schedule at the CEB All-in-One Carom Billiards European Championships in Antalya, Türkiye. Arnim Kahofer (Austria) in Cadre 71/2 and Baris Cin from Türkiye in Artistic Billiards both added their names to the list of winners.

Cadre 71/2
Mission title defense accomplished! That is the best way to describe the past two days for Austria’s Arnim Kahofer. Today began with the quarterfinals and semifinals before Kahofer faced Spain’s Esteve Mata in the final. The Austrian started the match at high speed and immediately produced a run of 152 points. Mata responded with 66 points, but that was clearly not enough. Over the next four innings, Kahofer added several more points to his score until he reached the winning target of 200 points. Then it was time to wait, as Mata still had one final inning. However, he only managed to score a few more points, meaning that Kahofer became the old and new European champion with a final score of 200:76.

Earlier in the semifinals, Gert-Jan Veldhuizen (Netherlands) and France’s Willy Gerimont had been eliminated. Veldhuizen lost to Esteve Mata 174:200 after six innings, while Gerimont had to watch as his opponent Arnim Kahofer scored the required 200 points in the very first inning. Raymund Swertz from the Netherlands had already been eliminated in the quarterfinals. After a 200:200 tie, he lost to his compatriot Veldhuizen.

Artistic Billiards
Baris Cin is the new European champion in Artistic Billiards. Cheered on by numerous spectators in Antalya, the Türkiye player reached the final today against Dutchman René Dericks. Both players produced countless spectacular shots during the final, but it soon became clear that Baris Cin would probably win the match. That is exactly how it turned out. Trailing behind, Dericks had to score points to stay in the game, but he was unable to do so. Baris Cin celebrated a 181:151 victory and the gold medal.

The shared third place and thus the bronze medal went to Erik Vervliet (Belgium) and Sergio Sanchez from Spain, who had lost their semifinal matches against Dericks and Cin respectively.

Women’s 3-Cushion
The four medal winners in the women’s 3-cushion event have been determined today. The semifinals and finals, which will decide the exact ranking, are scheduled for Wednesday. The two top favorites, Therese Klompenhouwer (Netherlands) and defending champion Charlotte Sørensen from Denmark, reached the top four along with Belgium’s Jaimie Buelens and Gülsen Degener from Türkiye.
All quarterfinal matches were very close. Klompenhouwer and Degener each won 30:24, while Buelens and Sørensen had even tighter matches, winning 30:27.

The highest run of the day was made by Buelens with eight points, while Klompenhouwer achieved the best average with 1.304.

Semifinals starting at 09:30:
Therese Klompenhouwer – Jaimie Buelens
Gülsen Degener – Charlotte Sørensen

5-Pins National Teams
The group stage of this competition concluded today. A total of fifteen teams were divided into five groups and played in a round-robin format to determine the participants for tomorrow’s quarterfinals. As already suggested by the individual results, the teams from Germany and Denmark are expected to play a major role in the fight for medals. Both nations entered two teams, and all four successfully reached the quarterfinals. The Netherlands, Austria, France, and Luxembourg complete the lineup.

Quarterfinals – 09:00:
