Bennie Deegens elected as new president of CEB

At the Extraordinary Congress of CEB in Ratingen (DE) at the 23rd of April 2016 the 68 year old Dutchman Bennie Deegens was elected by the majority of votes (46 against 5) as the new president of CEB. After the death of Wolfgang Rittmann it was necessary to elect a new president for remaining time until the next congress. The former vice-president will be in power until the new election of the whole board of CEB in the next Ordinary Congress in May 2017 in Italy. Also for the remaining period of time the board of CEB appointed the vacant positions of two vice-presidents to the previous assessors Gabrio Volante and Diane Wild.

The new elected UMB-president Farouk Barki and the vice-president of World Confederation of Billiard Spoprts Marcin Krzeminski from Poland were present also when the twelve out of 26 member federations welcomed the Polish Billiard Federation as a new member. Krzeminski took the opportunity to inform the audience about the Worldgames which are taking place in June 2017 in Wroclaw (Poland). For the Artistic commission Santos Chocron presented the analysis of the situation of Artistic Billiards. Artistic is in an urgent need of renewal and several proposals were made. A new commission chaired by Santos Chocron with Bennie Deegens, Jean Pierre Guiraud, Robert Immervoll and the Turkish federation president Ersan Ercan, a former artistic player himself, was formed. The goal is to develop a more attractive playing system for the EC 2017.
