
CASAL DE CERVERA HOSTS THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS CLASSICS
After the success of 2024 edition the Billiard Section of the Casal de Cervera in Spain is again ready to host new editions of the three European Championships in the classics disciplines: 1-Cushion, Balkline 47/2 and Balkline 71/2. Cervera, with its players and followers, is a well known center for classic disciplines, having already hosted many national and international events.
The games will start tomorrow, under the auspices of the CEB and the Royal Spanish Billiard Federation.
The first one to take place will be the 1-Cushion championship (May 27th and 28th), then the 47/2 will follow (29th and 30th) and the 71/2 (May 31st and June 1st) will close the event.
The game format is the same for the 3 tournaments: 16 athletes are divided in four groups of four playing round-robin. The first two of each group will advance to the direct elimination rounds. First day of each championship is dedicated to groups and the second day the KO stage will be played. A total of 22 athletes will gather in Cervera, representing 11 national federations.
Defending champions:
1-Cushion: Arnim Kahofer (Austria)
Balkline 47/2 and 71/2: Raymund Swertz (The Netherlands)
The event will be played on Simonis cloths and Aramith balls.
