HISTORIC VICTORY FOR CHARLOTTE SØRENSEN IN DENMARK
Charlotte couldn't dream for a better ending than winning the European gold in her home country in front of a crowdy venue. After a streak of 11 consecutive titles Therese Klompenhouwer had to pass the scepter of European Champion to her Danish colleague. For Charlotte Sørensen it's an historic win with both the World and European gold medals around her neck, as only Therese Klompenhouwer already did in the past.
The final match was a repetition of the world final match where Sørensen beat Klompenhouwer by one single points. This time the gap is bigger (30-19 in 29/28 innings), Sørensen started very strongly building immediately an advantage that was quite impossible to recover for Klompenhouwer. You could have guessed that something was happening earlier this morning when Charlotte delivered a world class match in the semifinal against Jaimie Buelens with a strong 30-4 win in 19 innings (1,578, the best match of the tournament). On the other hand Therese seems to be in a good shape too when she won Guzin Mujde Karakasli in the other semifinal (1,363, the second best match of the tournament). Klompenhouwer keeps the first place in the CEB 3-Cushion Ladies Ranking (188 points) but she is now closely chased by Sørensen (171 points). Jetten follows with 152 points and Karakasli is fourth with 126. The next Ladies ranking event in Gandia is not so far.
Gold medal: Charlotte Sørensen (Denmark)
Silver medal: Therese Klompenhouwer (Netherlands)
Bronze medals: Guzin Mujde Karakasli (Turkiye) and Jaimie Buelens (Belgium)
