
47/2 GOLD MEDAL FOR WILLY GERIMONT IN CERVERA
Willy Gerimont (France) is again on the Cervera's podium, after the 1-Cushion bronze he is now the new European Champion in the balkline 47/2 discipline.
Gerimont already got the 47/2 silver medal in 2019 and the bronze one in 2023, now he finally got to the highest step on the podium in Cervera. He beat Esteve Mata (Spain) in the final match, in front of a venue crowded with enthusiastic spectators.
Gerimont's road to the final passed over Arnim Kahofer (Austria) in quarters final and the former champion Xavier Gretillat (Switzerland), in the semifinals. Mata won the reigning champion, Raymund Swertz, in quarters final and another former champion, Marek Faus, in the semifinals.
Gerimont scored the best overall average (75,00) and the best run (247). Gerimont, Niessen and Gretillat were the only three who won a match to 200 points in one single inning.
Gold medal: Willy Gerimont (France)
Silver medal: Esteve Mata (Spain)
Bronze medals: Xavier Gretillat (Switzerland) and Marek Faus (Czech Republic).

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 47/2: QUARTERS FINAL ARE DECIDED
Today it was the turn of the European Championship balkline 47/2 in Cervera.
The qualification groups have been completed; the group winners and the runners up are advancing to the last 8 round.
Willy Gerimont (France) won group A ahead of title holder Raymund Swertz (Netherlands) who finished second. Michael Hikl (Austria) was third and Nikos Gerassimopoulos from Greece was fourth.
Belgian Patrick Niessen was the best in group B with the best average so far. The new 1-Cushion champion Raul Cuenca (SPain) was the runner up. Michel Van Silfhout (Netherland) was third and Arnd Riedel (Germany) was fourth.
In group C Esteve Mata (Spain) won and Marek Faus (Czech Republic) was runner up. Lyon Megens and Carlos Marques were eliminated as third and fourth.
Xavier Gretillat (Switzerland) was first in group D, Arnim Kahofer (Austria) was the runner up. Joan Espinasa (Spain) and Christian Pother (Germany) finished respectively third and fourth.
Patrick Niessen was the leader of the qualification ranking with 6 match points and the best general average so far (100,00); 3 players achieved a win with a 200 points run so far: Niessen, Gerimont and Gretillat.
