FINALISTS DETERMINED IN 3-CUSHION AND 5-PINS

At the CEB All-in-one Carom European Championships in Antalya, Türkiye, there were no medal decisions on the program this Friday. However, the finalists in the men’s 3-Cushion event and the women’s 5-Pins event were determined. In addition, the women’s 3-Cushion national team tournament got underway.

Men’s 3-Cushion
Tomorrow’s final will feature an all-Belgian clash between Peter Ceulemans and Eddy Merckx. Defending champion Martin Horn from Germany reached the semifinals this year but was stopped there by Ceulemans. The Belgian pulled away early with a run of several points, and just when Horn was closing the gap, Ceulemans produced another scoring run. The final result was 50–38 in 26 innings.

In the second semifinal, the Turkish crowd watched their former world champion Tayfun Tasdemir, who ultimately had no chance against a very strong Eddy Merckx. The Belgian won convincingly 50–22 to secure his place in the final.

The final is scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 p.m. local time. Both the highest run and the best average of the day went to Tayfun Tasdemir, who impressed with a 15-point run and an average of 2.631.

Women’s 5-Pins
In the women’s 5-Pins competition, the group stage concluded today, and the finalists for tomorrow were determined in the subsequent semifinals. A total of eight players from six nations started the tournament.

In the first semifinal, Marianne Mortensen and Emma Bjerregaard, both from Denmark, faced each other, with Mortensen prevailing in four sets. The second semifinal featured Anna Pechmanova (Czech Republic) against Denmark’s Charlotte Koefoed, with Koefoed winning convincingly 3–0.

This sets up an all-Danish final on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. local time between Marianne Mortensen and Charlotte Koefoed.

Women’s 3-Cushion National Teams
The women’s 3-Cushion national team competition also got underway. A total of eight teams, divided into two groups, are competing in a round-robin format to determine the semifinalists.

The Netherlands started the tournament with a win over Türkiye 2, while Belgium and Austria played to a draw. In the second group, Denmark defeated Germany in the opening match, while Türkiye 1 beat Greece.

A standout performance came from Türkiye’s Guzin Mujde Karakasli, who recorded a high run of 12 points.

The group stage concludes on Saturday, with the final matches scheduled for Sunday.
