GÜZIN MÜJDE KARAKASLI IS THE NEW WORLD CHAMPION
The Women's Three-Cushion World Championship has just concluded in Gradignan, France, and there was no shortage of surprises.
Unlike the previous 2025 edition, the podium this time is dominated by representatives from CEB federations.
Defending champion Therese Klompenhouwer (NL) yielded the title to Turkey's Guzin Mujde Karakasli, who secured with great joy her first world title after a flawless tournament performance.
Klompenhouwer struggled against her compatriot Karina Jetten in the semifinal, caught off guard by a very fast start from her opponent. Although she managed to catch up at the 25-point mark, Jetten executed a run of five and finished strongly to win the match.
Karakasli’s semifinal was also a thrilling, nail-biting affair. Trailing 19–25 against Vietnam’s Duc Yen Sinh Nguyen, Karakasli managed to score 11 points in just four innings to clinch the victory.
The final was a relatively more one-way match; Karakasli pulled ahead early on and maintained her lead to secure a 30–18 win and the gold medal.
