KLOMPENHOUWER AND TEAM GERMANY ARE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS

Therese Klompenhouwer and the German 5-Pins national team were the big winners this Wednesday at the CEB All-in-one Carom Billiards European Championships in Antalya, Türkiye. They each claimed the gold medal in their respective disciplines.

Women’s 3-Cushion
In the women’s 3-cushion final, the eagerly anticipated duel took place between defending champion Charlotte Sørensen (Denmark) and Dutch world champion Therese Klompenhouwer. The latter took control almost from the very beginning and left no doubt about who would leave the table as the winner. After 26 innings, the moment had come — the world champion is now also the European champion. Gold for Klompenhouwer with a 30:18 victory.

The bronze medals were shared by Belgium’s Jaimie Buelens and Gülsen Degener. The player from Türkiye had initially taken the lead in her semifinal against Sørensen but was later overtaken.

Charlotte Sørensen produced the highest run of the day, while Therese Klompenhouwer achieved the best average with 2.000. The Dutch player also recorded the best tournament average with 1.075.

5-Pins National Teams
The German quartet consisting of individual European champion Toni Rosenberg, Michel Peters, Max Gabel and Luigi La Rocca is the new European team champion in 5-Pins. After a 4:1 victory over Denmark 2 and a clear 3:0 win against France, the team reached the final, where they faced Denmark’s first team.

After the two singles matches and the doubles, Germany was leading 2:1. However, since the final relay match is worth two points, everything was still open. Around halfway through the race to 200 points, Germany took the lead. Denmark equalized again at around 120:120, but then Team Germany, through Rosenberg and Gabel, scored very consistently. The final score was 200:153.

The bronze medals went to Germany’s second team and the previously mentioned French team.

Cadre 47/2

Belgium’s Patrick Niessen also achieved two victories but had to leave the competition due to a lower average compared with Mata and Frenchman Jean-François Florent.
