THE QUEEN IS BACK ON THE THRONE. 6TH WORLD TITLE FOR THERESE KLOMPENHOUWER.
Therese Klompenhouwer (NL) takes back the World Title for the 6th time in her career.
She was the only European on the podium in Cartagena with 3 Asian behind her: the Korean Kim Ha Eun (silver), bronze for Choi Bo Mi (Korea) and Nguyen Thi Lien (Vietnam). The road to the gold medal was not without risks: in the last 16 she was behind 26-21 against the Greek Litsa Mavridoglou but managed to win 30-26 in 33. Then she outplayed her compatriot Karina Jetten in the quarters (30-11 in 20) and the Vietnamese Nguyen in the semifinal (30-13 in 39); she finally won the last match 30-25 in 27.
Gulsen Degener and Karina Jetten were the other European best ranked finishing 5th and 7th.

THE 13TH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 3-CUSHION LADIES KICKS OFF IN CARTAGENA
The 13th World Championship 3-Cushion Ladies kicked off today in the "Palacio de deportes" in the Spanish city of Cartagena, 23rd to 25th of September.
24 top women athletes gathered from all over the world to compete for the World Title.
The CEB armada is the largest as usual, 13 out of the 24 participants are from Federations affiliated with the CEB; among them the current World and European Champion Charlotte Sørensen from Denmark and the current leader of the CEB 3-Cushion Ladies ranking, several times World and European Champion and Gold medal at the World Games Therese Klompenhouwer from The Netherlands.
Format: 8 qualification groups of 3; best two from each group will advance to the KO stage.
Today the qualification groups will be completed; tomorrow it will be the day of the last 16 and the quarters final; on Thursday semifinals and final are scheduled.
