No further medal cermonies took place on the fourth day of the European Billiards-Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel. Nevertheless the spectators saw some very exciting games.

In men’s One-Cushion tournament the final stage started today with the quarterfinal. Frédéric Caudron (Belgium,) as title holder had no problems in reaching this round. At the same time Torbjörn Blomdahl from Sweden saw himself in the role of a spectator after losing the deciding match in the preliminary round to Arnim Kahofer. The Austrian took his chance and also won his quarterfinal, he now faces Nicolas Gerassimopoulos from Greece in the semis. Caudron will play Bernard Villiers (France).

In the final phase there is also the 5 pins-Tournament. After the group stages finished Sunday evening the seeded players entered the event. After the two rounds played today, the participants of the quarterfinals are set, six italian players made it to the Top 8! They are joined by German Thomas Hähne and Angelo Cusso from Switzerland.

In Baulk Line (Cadre) 47/2 the first group matches took place on Monday evening. 24 players applied for the gold medal but Dutch-Man Raymund Swertz is the top-favorite. He won the title two years ago during the last championship in Brandenburg. Swertz will have his first match on Tuesday along with the host country‘s biggest hope, Sven Daske from Hannover.

The Junior players began the next two tournaments. The under 17-players launched their 3-cushion event on the small tables. 14 players divided into 4 groups with the two best players of each group reaching the final round.  Daniel Pena from Spain had a very convincing performance so far and is the man to beat in the upcoming matches.

At the same time the Junior Libre division started. Jerry Fong from the Netherlands played brilliantly in his group and is the favorite for the gold medal. His fellow countryman, Sam van Etten, who was expected to be in the quartefinals, is already out of the tournament. The quarterfinals took place on late Monday evening.
