DANIELA ROMITI SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDS HER WORLD 5-PINS TITLE
The Italian Daniela Romiti doubles her World title and takes home a second gold medal for Italy in the Madrid event. Denmark confirms to be the best challenger to the Italian dominance in 5-Pins ladies.
In the final Daniela faced and won the experienced Marianne Mortensen from Denmark by a 3-1 score. Earlier in the semifinals the tension was at the highest level: Romiti played her most difficult match of the tournament against her compatriot Lucia Biondolillo and won by 3-2; Mortensen had to clash with her compatriot too, Charlotte Koefoed, and the outcome was another exciting 3-2 score. Gutierrez (Uruguay), Romano (Italy), Kureckova (Czech Republic) and Titze (Germany) finished their Tournament in the quarters final.

Gold medal: Daniela Romiti (Italy)
Silver medal: Marianne Mortensen (Denmark)
Bronze medals: Charlotte Koefoed (Denmark) and Lucia Biondolillo (Italy).

THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 5-PINS LADIES AT THE STARTING BLOCKS
While the National Team Championships reaches the KO stage the best 5-Pins women enter the scene today in Madrid.
This second edition of the Ladies 5-Pins Championship is presenting 12 athletes, 10 from Europe and 2 from Southern America. Among the European athletes we will witness the defending world champion, the Italian Daniela Romiti, and the main challengers: the current European Champion, Charlotte Koefoed from Denmark, and the European vice champion, Milena Romano also from Italy. Spanish Estela Cardoso got a wild card. Besides the other competitors should not be underestimated. Today the qualification groups and the quarters final will be played; tomorrow the semifinals and the final are on the schedule.
