After three exciting days of competition in the Kozoom Studio in Andernos the Dutchman Raymund Swertz is the winner of the first Classic Race played in balkline 71/2. The current European Champion in this discipline did not disappoint the spectators, showing phenomenal speed of execution combined with great technical ability. Roland Forthomme won last qualifying group of the Kozoom 3C Challenge Cup. He is now the third player from Belgium to take the last available ticket for the final round to be played in September. The italian maestro lead the group with 9 sets won after the two first daily session with his usual impressive game. Montes and Kahofer trailed at 5 and 2. Zanetti looked to be easily going to conquer the group. The third session suddenly became a thriller when Montes made a brilliant start winning 5 sets out of the first 6, only 1 went to Kahofer and 1 to Zanetti. The young Frenchman Gwendal Marechal showed a brilliant performance in the three sessions of the latest group of the Kozoom 3C Challenge Cup, gaining his ticket for the final round. He started the first day with a surprising 4-4-0 (playing at 2,000 avg) against the world champion Torbjörn Blomdahl (2,241) and the German Ronny Lindemann who couldn't win one set. Another thrilling round at the Kozoom 3C Challenge Cup! At the end of 3 exciting days, Peter De Backer won Group F. The Belgian put up a great fight against the favourite Frenchman Jérémy Bury until the very last set. The 24 planned sets ended up in a tie: De Backer and Bury at 10 and Sorensen at 4. What an exciting 3 days we’ve had! Eddy Merckx was by far the best player in the group H of the Kozoom 3C Challenge Cup, leaving no chance to the two opponents: the young Maxime Panaia from France and Dave Christiani from Netherlands. The Dutchman himself admitted that he was not at his best, making too many mistakes while the young Frenchman missed some chances to win a couple of more sets but he has the right age and he showed the talent needed for a future development. The French player Willy Gérimont brilliantly won the first edition of the Classic Race Challenge, organized in Andernos by the CEB and Kozoom. In an all-French final, Willy Gérimont defeated his opponent Johann Petit 277 to 236. Eight players were invited for the inaugural Classic Race Challenge.
